It is important that your point of attachment (POA) is in good condition and meets the NSW Service and Installation Rules.  A point of attachment must be a minimum of three meters from the ground and be accessible from a ladder (on flat ground) at all times. 


We see point of attachments all over the coast that do not meet this requirement and Ausgrid can issue defects if the point of attachment is not accessible safely.


At the point of attachment there may be barge fuses installed.  These barge fuses must also be compliant and safe.  In a lot of older properties these can deteriorate and cause faults.  Faults can occur through bad connections within the fuse housing or problems with the connections with the old consumer mains.  Check your consumer mains are of adequate size for your installation and in a good, safe condition..
